Alona Henig, MFTC, RYT
As an attachment-based and somatic experiencing therapist, I meet people exactly where they are, as they are, and trust their physiology to guide our work. Whether working with individuals, couples and relationships, or families, I support clients in accessing a felt sense of safety as they connect with themselves, their bodies, and their loves ones.
We’ve all inherited stories and belief systems about how we are expected to act and operate. Sometimes, these stories inspire us to feel at-home within ourselves, operate with integrity, and enjoy the pleasures of life. Other times, these stories get in the way of doing just that. I support clients in integrating these stories with the felt experience of their bodies and cultivating choice around how they respond.
I work with individuals, couples and relationships (i.e. non-monogamous/polycules, families, etc.), to help people cultivate the lives and relationships they long for by welcoming the body's experience into the room. So often, our bodies are dismissed or seen as an inconvenience. In working with me, clients are supported in learning to speak the language of their bodies and build a more trusting, loving relationship with themselves and those close to them.
I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental approach to encourage new ways of understanding oneself and their relationships. In working with me, clients can expect an opportunity to slow down enough to gain a sense of accuracy about what’s going on beneath the surface. Rather than focusing solely on behaviors, I work with clients to understand what emotional and physiological experience is driving the behavior, and choose how they respond. As an ENM-, kink-, LGBTQ+-, sex work-affirming, and anti-racist therapist, my goal is to offer a space for clients to show up as they are and allow their nervous systems to rest.
In my free time I love to move my body in ways that bring me joy, spend time outside, cook nourishing meals, and enjoy a slow morning with a good cup of coffee. I find great pleasure in the gifts of community and consider myself very community-oriented. I look forward to working with you!
